GNS Achieves ISO 27001 Certification – A Milestone in Information Security

We are excited to announce that GulfNetSolutions Company Ltd (GNS) has officially achieved ISO 27001certification, a significant milestone for our company. This certificationprocess was initiated in response to the Pre-Qualification requirements for ITand Cyber Security with key enterprise accounts, including the SaudiElectricity Company. As a team, we embarked on this journey to meetinternational standards for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS).

ISO 27001 is the globally recognized standard for establishing,implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an Information SecurityManagement System. It ensures that GNS adheres to the highest standards ofinformation security, safeguarding the data owned or handled by the GNS andreducing risks related to the management of security and protection ofinformation. By proactively identifying and addressing potential risks andvulnerabilities, we are aligned with the International Organization for Standardization(ISO) requirements.

This certification not onlystrengthens our information security practices but also opens new opportunitiesfor GNS, particularly in bidding for major projects in IT, CyberSecurity, Automation, Operational Technology, IIoT, IoT, Digitalization, andConsultancy services. For many clients, especially in the government,semi-government, and private sectors, ISO 27001 certification is apre-requisite for consideration in these high-value contracts.

Challenges Overcome

The journey to ISO 27001certification was not without its challenges:

- Enhancing Security Levels: The group IT team, have not only maintained thedocumentation they have prepared rigorous frameworks to provide an upscalesenvironment of security in the Company, which was not present before especiallyfrom the Cyber Security and IT Infrastructure team.

- Demonstrating Long-term Value:Convincing management of the long-term benefits of ISO 27001 required carefularticulation of its value proposition.

- Time Constraints: Gathering, documenting, and aligning our practices withthe ISO 27001 standard in a short period was a complex task, requiring ameticulous approach, especially during the audit.

This achievement was madepossible through excellent teamwork and collaboration across variousdepartments:

The project was spearheaded byEdilberto Salud Jr., through the esteemedguidance of Mr. Zeehsan Shaikh and with keysupport from Sufiyan Bharde and Sara Al Morihal, alongside efforts from ourCorporate Units (IT, HR, and Admin). Each department worked cohesively to meetthe certification requirements and provide the necessary resources and evidenceduring the audit.
